Direct to Garment Printing: Just another way we're Greening Up!

A further note on our newest Direct Print Line
to be debuted soon!!!

Maximus proudly shows off his (100% washable) new line :)

Direct to Garment Printing is Ecologically friendly and safe for the environment, there is very, very little waste and the ink is a stain that is water based.  It is sprayed on like an ink jet printer.
Screen Printing Inks have been known to have heavy metals in them that are not safe for the environment or safe if they come in contact with Children's skin.  There is waste that must be cleaned and flushed once the screen is to no longer be used.
Many Silk Screen Inks inks are petroleum based, and tend to leach carcinogenic chemicals from themselves in small doses.  Many of these chemicals continue to react even when laundered.

Nesting!

After a couple of crazy, way too early to be awake weekend mornings, we have officially decided that Leo is just not ready to share a room with Ava ...

The Solution: John has sacrificed his master closet and we have decorated it and made it Ava's special room all to herself! She was so surprised and super excited to have her own GIRLS ONLY space all to herself.

It was super easy too thanks to Target and wall decals.  I recommend thinking of re-purposing your closet:)

Needless to say, Monday met us all today with productive, ready souls and minds--invigorated for what the week holds ahead of us.  And as an added bonus:  A cool front arrived and is sticking around for a couple of days :)

Can't wait to see what inspires us tomorrow!

Wishing you warmth, love and happiness~

My perfect morning...

Maximus and I enjoyed an early morning, monsterous walk this am together :)

We mailed a package, made a pit stop in the Central Market for a balloon--pictured :)--and then headed to the Broadway Daily Bread for some muffins to enjoy throughout our weekend and lastly, a quick stop at Starbucks for a Grande Latte :)  All the while, enjoying the nice cooler temps, beautifully landscaped homes and the tightness we felt all over--through mommy's body--from the mountain like hills that abound in our San Antonio neighborhood.  My perfect morning:)

Mom's dead...

Overheard Leo and Ava playing "Mommy and Daddy" ~A game I loath because it mainly involves them just whining back and forth for (pretend) Mommy and Daddy~  Leo called out for Mommy (Ava) and Ava's response was, "No, I'm big sister today, mommy's dead remember"... I interjected at this point to inquire why and what happened to mommy?? Their reply, "She jumped off the bridge lasterday (yesterday) into the river and a crocodile ate her up dead." "Why??" "She couldn't handle taking care of us anymore."  And then they went right back to playing. I was floored, and saddened ...

Here's some pics of Leo showing off his new
DTG print this morning on the way to school.
Debuting next week for purchase at

Just Grace

**I wish I was photogenic and could post a cool pic of me to give you a visual image for this bio, alas, I'm not, so take these words and picture what you will :)**

I am a mother of 3 beautiful Little Birds who are constantly inspiring me. My 4 year old, the original inspiration of Little Bird's, is an aspiring Astronaut, as she informed me today.  My 2 year old plans on being a cowboy (or cowgirl at times, depending on the color boots he's wearing at the moment) and my 16 mos old is definitely going to be a lover:) We're anxiously awaiting our newest addition to our nest in January!

My soul mate, best friend and biggest fan is my husband. He was once asked at the beginning of our relationship, "How can you stand her voice??" (It's been said I sound like a Japanese Rat...) His response, "What's wrong with her voice?" I've loved him ever since :) My biggest fear is losing him, he makes me, me.

My humongous fault (or one of): Using "We" instead of "I"--much to my mother's dismay especially. I am very aware that everything happens with a team--whether direct or indirectly. I could not have accomplished any of my successes if it were not for someone else who helped in some way--big or small. I suppose I use "We" just to ensure credit is given where due at all times.
No man is an Island.

I am a lover of Kid-less weekend's away with the one you love, although I've never taken one ...

I'm a firm believer and supporter of Mommies! I think that we are all Superhero's and demonstrate our heroic powers day in and day out. I'm so proud and honored to be apart of the motherhood group :)

Our goal here at Little Bird's is to spread warmth, love and happiness - and we are doing just that, one bird at a time.

Little Bird's is passionate about mommies and mommy friendships. Little Bird Vintage Designs was created when a long distant move separated 2--Anastacia and Grace, original designers and owners, back in 2007.

Little Bird Vintage Designs has since evolved into a multi-product, multi-team, multi-mission driven purpose to connect, not only with mommies and babies, but all mankind through little bird ventures.
100% USA Made, based 100% in Texas, by a team of Momprenuerers! Each bird is hand painted and lovingly created, uniquely designed, a perfect gift for your fledgling or someone else's.

"And, in the end..."

"And, in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."--Sir Paul.

My Mantra for the week.

What's yours?

Our Nest just recently relocated to San Antonio, Texas, and I find myself constantly still organizing and unpacking, getting everything all in place to take full advantage of this new fresh start!  I love new beginnings, just like new seasons, it's invigorating!  And, of course I seem to be always pregnant whenever we have relocated these past 5 years, so I'm always in constant nesting mode :)

I'm a firm believer in change.  If it's not working, or to your liking, figure it out and make that change.  A constant song over takes me,  Micheal Jackson's, "Man in The Mirror", "if you want to make a difference in the world today, take a look at yourself and make that--Change" (I just wrote that with the song loud and proud in my heart, really getting into it, trying to get it to come across via text :))  Ah, reflecting on a great period of Micheal Jackson's career....  Back to the point of my reference though, I strongly believe that one person, especially one company, one group, can make a difference and a positive impact in the world through change.  Thus why Little Birds will only support and work with businesses and individuals that have that goal in mind: Making a difference in our world for the better.   We are soon to be promoting our newest line to our Nest:  The Direct Print Collection, featuring our latest additions:  Maximus the Octopus, and Leo the Lion (pictured).
David Beck, of Odd Designs is our Direct Printing Artist.  He convinced us to go the Direct Printing route as a safer, more eco friendly option to Screen Print.  It doesn't peel or fade away, it's an absolutely gorgeous option, and we are sure you will be just as thrilled!!

Our supplies for apparel are growing as we get larger, but we can assure you that we have researched and will continue to research each that we choose, to ensure that they are practicing the Fair Trade Law and have a mission to better the world that resounds throughout their company.  We have recently decided to offer companies that aren't solely American Made, but support economic growth and production in countries that need work as well, such as Haiti, who's economic recovery is largely dependent on these manufacturers.  As we introduce a new supplier, we will make a point to include the link so that you can research and feel safe and satisfied as well that you are making an informed purchase that is true to your values and beliefs.

Currently our suppliers are American Apparel--They offer a great 100% Organic Cotton Collection in an array of colors that we have been so pleased with.  Also, the are 100% USA Made.

We look forward to growing with you!  Let us know what you think--and stay tuned...

In Warmth, Love and Happiness~

ETSY here we come!!

After a very humbling time in Dallas Market attempting to place Little Birds in the world of wholesale, I came to the realization that Little Birds was in the wrong target audience ... Being within the circle of retailers and fellow pushers of product, I realized Little Birds is indeed a very unique item and needed to be handled with care :) Not simply thrust out there in the masses, destined to get lost within the zillions of other lovies and appliqued products. No, Little Birds is a very individual product that deserves to be treated with dignity. We need to sell directly to the consumers, rather than to the retailers that sell to them.

Now that our Market experience is said and done for, Little Birds has regrouped, refocused and redirected! We are now highlighting our shop on Etsy.com:

our company website, www.littlebirdvintagedesigns.com and blog. Since Little Birds will no longer be selling to wholesalers, the cost to you will be considerably lower. So come check us out and buy gifts for all the fledglings in your life!

We are an ever evolving product, but we still keep our main mission in flight: To enthuse warmth, love and happiness to the world, one little bird at a time.

And really, truly stand by the fact that one business can make a difference.

We hope you will join our plight and follow us!

In Warth, Love and Happiness--

Grace
